Earnest Calloway
I've always felt that testimonies were given by people who had accomplishments or things they were especially proud of. My life has seemed to be a diet of chicken one day and feathers the next.
People tell me I should be proud that I was born on New Year's Day in 1948, as if I had some hand in it. Or they say, "Hey man, you were a superstar for the Philadelphia Eagles Football team." However, it seems as though I was pursuing a dream and I ended up sleeping through the whole affair.
My memories of these things are warming, but there is a hollowness that remains a residue.
I have flown with the Eagles in the "Fellowship of Christian Athletes" and I have hit crack at the bottom of the barrel.
The highlights of my life have been the beautiful people, men and women, who have charmed and enchanted me and the inordinate amount of wise men I have encountered. But the highlight of my life has been finding and knowing God. I would be ashamed to try to verbalize the things He has been through with me. God is my father, friend and companion.
I believe God has called me to work toward ending human suffering in the world in every way I can through what I will call "People Services". I seek to fulfill that call. At the end of the matter, love God, seek His ways, and His will and come as close to Him as you can."
