New Van

Christmas came early for Central Care Mission in 2011 in the form of a brand new fifteen passenger van!

Central Care Mission provides transportation for our residents through our fleet of three passenger vans. These vans are essential to our residents in that they provide daily transportation service from early morning to late evening taking our men back and forth to work and provide transportation to a number of community and outreach services in which our residents participate. Needless to say this is a major expense for the Mission and our vans wear out quickly and by the end of 2011, each van was nearing the end of its usable life.

Then a tremendous need has been met! Through the generosity of Don Reid Ford and generous friends of Central Care Mission, we were able to raise the entire $22,000 at the Annual Christmas Dinner and have placed our new van in service!

The Board of Directors, Staff members and residents of Central Care Mission thanks you for helping us meet this very important need.

Celebration of Transformation

On October 2, 2011 Central Care Mission hosted its initial outdoor "Celebration of Transformation" service for the residents, family , friends and supporters of the Mission.  Spence led the worship and gave an challenging message.  The service included a child's dedication, new believers baptisms and an inspiring testimony.

The worship experience was followed by a cook out under the big tent.  A good time was had by all.

Wild at Heart

On October 6-9, 2011 nine residents of Central Care Mission were treated to a spiritual retreat at Young Life’s Windy Gap facility in Ocala, Florida.

This inspiritational retreat featured spiritual teaching, meditation and fellowship with 115 other Christ minded men.  The material covered how to deal with wounds of the heart, now to rediscover masculine identity as a spiritual warrior, and ho to identify God’s call for purpose in one's life.  Based on John Eldridge’s “Wild At Heart”, this semi annual event will serve as a building block for the men at Central Care Mission as they move forward in their recovery programs.

A heart felt thanks goes out to those men who sponsored the residents at the retreat and provided transportation.

Camping Trip

Central Care Mission :: Camping Trip

Thirty-nine clients and mentors of Central Care Mission participated in the second annual camping trip to the mountains of Northern Georgia during the weekend of September 24, 2011.

After weeks of preparation eight cars, trucks and trailers rolled out of Central Care Mission at dawn on Thursday morning and arrived at Bear Creek campsite in the Chattahoochee National Forest mid-afternoon only to be greated by a steady downpour of rain.  By nightfall the tents were set and supplies unloaded and it was time for fellowship, food and fun.  Mother nature was not dampening these men’s spirits!

Friday and Saturday were spent in exhilarating mountain biking, challenging hiking, relaxing fishing, and communing with nature and conversing with God and men.  Each evening, around the campfire the men were led by Spence in spiritual devotion.  Using the life of Joseph in Genesis 39 as our model, the men were confronted with “What to do When Your Dreams Shatter?” Each man swas challenged to explore their lives in the light of finding and fulfilling God’s dream for them.

Predawn on Sunday found the men tearing down and packing for the trip back to Central Care Mission.  By early evening, the trucks and trailers were unloaded and the men ready to return to their normal routines having experienced an inspiring and transforming few days in God’s country under his watchful eye.
